Cannabidiol Oil Saves Infant's Life
Even though CBD is not yet approved by FDA, many parents and doctors are turning to cannabidiol oil to help with many illnesses:
Last month an infant who was experiencing life-threatening seizures just after birth was given CBD Oil while in Children’s Hopsital Colorado’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). According to the infant’s parents, neurologists suggested that the parents could give CBD oil to their daughter in order to help with her seizures.
It is important to note that the US Food and Drug Administration has not yet approved CBD oil to treat illnesses or diseases.
According to the hospital’s policy, nurses and doctors are not permitted to administer the medicine to the infant, so her mother and father gave it to her via a small syringe that could feed the CBD oil orally.
The reason that this article has made headlines in recent days, is because more physicians are behind the push to get CBD Oil to become more widely accepted by the medical community. A great number of benefits have been found in studies showing how CBD can help patients with a number of ailments. The British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology published a study in 2013 that explained how cannabidiol (CBD) could be used for neurodegenerative disorders.
One of the reasons that this infant received cannabidiol (CBD) oil for seizures is because previous studies have shown that cbd oil for seizures can help patients who are suffering from such disorders.
As an anticonvulsant, CBD oil has been shown to help suppress seizure activity in animals, with a few studies showing progress in humans.
GW Pharmaceuticals, a company based in the United Kingdom, is currently working on clinical trials that show how CBD oil can help treat people for certain types of epilepsy as well as schizophrenia. Additionally, there’s another team of medical researchers in California who are working on a clinical trial to see how cannabidiol can help breast cancer patients.
What this Means to You
